Safety and Burning Tips

The greater your awareness of the care your candles require, the better they'll perform for you.  it is important that you use candles responsibly to ensure their safe use.  We recommend following these important steps.

Safety

1. Never leave a burning candle unattended.
2. Keep candles out of the reach of children and pets.
3. Remove all packaging before lighting.
4. Always place your candles on sturdy, non-flammable holders, in sizes appropriate for the candles.
5. Keep burning candles within sight at all times.
6. Always light candles in draft-free areas, to prevent dripping and smoking.
7. Never burn a candle completely.  Dispose of it when it burns to within one inch of the base or holder.
8. If smoking occurs, blow the candle out, trim the wick, remove trimming, and relight.
9. Keep the wax pool free of wick trimmings, matches, or any combustible material.
10. Store in a cool, dry place.  Exposure to moisture might inhibit relighting.
Burning Tips
1. When the wax pool reaches the candle's edge, extinguish flame and allow candle to harden before relighting.  This will prevent dripping.  Burning your candle this way will also set its memory.  Each time you relight the candle it will remember to burn out to the rim.
2. Keep the wick trimmed to one-quarter inch every time you light the candle.  This will ensure clean, smoke free burning.  Be sure to remove any wick debris that has fallen into the candle.
3. You can keep your candles smooth and silky looking by gently rubbing them with ordinary nylon stockings.  This will remove any scratches.
4. To guard your candles against fading, avoid placing them in direct sunlight.
5. Before slipping a votive into a votive holder, drop a teaspoon of water into the cup.  This way when you want to remove the votive candle to replace it with another, the candle should slide out easily.  Plus, you won't struggle with it and risk damage to the holder.  Check periodically to make sure there is still ample water remaining in the holder.
6. To remove wax from washable fabrics, scrape off excess wax and run boiling water through the material.  Remove wax from holders by running very hot water over them.
